Locum Express: Onboarding Process for Locum Doctors

The onboarding process at Locum Express is designed to ensure that doctors have a seamless and efficient experience when joining our recruitment agency. Below is a step-by-step outline from the moment a doctor registers or contacts us to their transition to the recruitment team for job placement.

 

1. Initial Contact or Online Registration

Doctor registers online at register or makes direct contact with our team on +353 (0)21 4297901 or by email at info@locumexpress.ie.

Automated confirmation is sent to the doctor acknowledging receipt of their registration and outlining the next steps in the onboarding process.

2. Assignment to Onboarding Coordinator

David O'Rourke, the Onboarding Coordinator, is immediately assigned to the doctor’s case. David becomes the doctor’s main point of contact throughout the onboarding process.

3. Initial Consultation with David O'Rourke

David contacts the doctor via phone or email within 24-48 hours of registration to:

  • Welcome the doctor to Locum Express.
  • Discuss the doctor’s preferences, qualifications, and locum requirements.
  • Outline the onboarding and compliance process.
  • Answer any initial questions the doctor may have.

4. Compliance Guidance & Support

David assists the doctor by liaising with the Locum Express Compliance Team to ensure all necessary compliance documentation is completed, ensuring they meet the legal and regulatory requirements for working as a locum in Ireland. This includes:

  • IMC registration verification.
  • Professional references.
  • Garda vetting and police clearance.
  • Up-to-date certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS).
  • Immunisation records.

The Compliance Team will provide a detailed checklist and guide the doctor step-by-step through each document required.

David will liaise with the compliance team on the doctor’s behalf, ensuring the swift collection, submission, and review of all required paperwork.

5. Ongoing Communication

Throughout this process, David will maintain regular contact with the doctor to:

  • Provide updates on the status of their compliance documentation.
  • Address any concerns or issues they might have.
  • Ensure all required documents are correctly submitted and verified.

6. Liaison with Recruitment Team

Once compliance has been successfully completed, David will liaise directly with the Locum Express recruitment team. During this phase, he will:

  • Brief the recruitment team on the doctor’s availability, specialty, and locum preferences.
  • Ensure a smooth handover between the onboarding and recruitment teams.

7. Transition to Recruitment Team

David formally introduces the doctor to a designated Recruitment Consultant.

The Recruitment Consultant will then:

  • Work with the doctor to find suitable locum roles.
  • Begin matching the doctor with available opportunities aligned with their qualifications and preferences.

8. Post-Onboarding Support

Even after the doctor transitions to the recruitment team, David remains available for any further assistance related to onboarding or compliance.
